Flat or falling budgets in Cybersecurity ?

The point
Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are experiencing a slowdown in budget growth, with over a third reporting flat or reduced spending in 2024, according to a survey by IANS Research.Despite an overall increase in security budgets of 8% this year, this is significantly lower than the growth rates of 16% and 17% seen in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
The survey indicates that staffing levels are also stagnating, with many CISOs not hiring amid a continuing talent shortage in the cybersecurity field.
However, security's share of overall IT budgets is rising, increasing from 8.6% in 2020 to 13.2% in 2024.
This shift reflects a growing recognition of the importance of security among C-suite executives,
- partly driven by regulatory changes
- and rising concerns over third-party supplier vulnerabilities.
Why this article ?
- As you will know when we will disclose more on the CybersumProject, we like (str*****ed) summaries. And even at high level, a good one.
- And, among others, we like - a lot - the Register; then IANS is an ISC2 partner that you should know. ;-)
