The news
Microsoft has announced the general availability of the Windows App across all major platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and web browsers, with a public preview for Android. This app aim to be a secure gateway to connect users to various Windows environments such as Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Remote Desktop Services.Declared Key Features and Benefits:
- Unified Experience: The Windows App provides a consistent interface for accessing Windows resources from any device, enhancing user productivity with customizable home screens, multi-monitor support, and USB redirection.
- Enhanced Security: It includes advanced security features like multifactor authentication to ensure secure connections.
- Early adopters have praised the app for its seamless access and improved end-user experience. Notable feedback highlights that it significantly reduces onboarding time for new employees and centralizes access to virtualized workplaces and applications.
And current RDP ?
Users of existing Remote Desktop clients will transition to the new Windows App.It is available for download from respective app stores or can be accessed via web browsers, ensuring easy connectivity without installation.
For IT administrators, Microsoft recommends... utilizing the provided documentation to facilitate the transition and update internal processes accordingly.
